Siren's Pull Application
Player Information
Name: Varis
Age: 24
AIM SN: harder to kill
email: unknowngoddess[at]gmail.com
Have you played in an LJ based game before? y
Bonus: How did you hear about Siren's Pull? I'M IN THE GAME
Character Information
General
Canon Source: Zombieland
Canon Format: Movie
Character's Name: Little Rock
Character's Age: 12
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. Little Rock is about as typical a 12-year-old as a kid growing up in the zombie apocalypse can be. That is to say, she enjoys things 12-year-olds enjoy, but she's also extremely mature, and one of the most level-headed characters in the film. A lot of the times, while she's obviously vulnerable in being not as physically capable as the adults, she seems a lot more aware of the situation, and knows what to say to push the others into action. She's a smart kid, and she's good at reading people.
What form will your character's NV take? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/18/ba_1.jpg a blue touch-screen device with all the general NV functions packed in.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Little Rock can fire a gun. She's kind of passably good at it, but she's not great. Tallahassee was teaching her how to get better.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Telekinesis. She'll get regular headaches starting out when using it, which'll persist the larger the objects she tries to move are, and it'll obviously take her a long time to work up to even levitating pencils properly, and it'll be erratic and hard to control the more emotional she is.
Weapons: her Winchester 1890 Pump action rifle.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Here. If this isn't enough I can pad out but.. yeah there's really not a lot anyway. I'll be playing her as though her parents died when she was 10 and Wichita's been taking care of her ever since. It's more or less hinted this is the case in the movie, although it's never directly confirmed.
Point in Canon: End of the movie
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: n/a
Character Personality: Little Rock is the product of having to grow up too early too fast. While in many ways she is a typical twelve-year-old, she is by and large far more mature than her years. She is a fairly serious little girl, who will often just stare blankly or roll her eyes at adults trying to talk down to her. Moving around with her sister and conning people taught her not to form close attachments, although she's not nearly as bad as her sister. She's very good at reading people, which is helpful in the way she and her sister live, as well as in dealing with her sister herself.
Little Rock does in fact almost seem to take care of Wichita sometimes, just as much as it is the other way around. She knows how to gently nudge her sister in a more healthy direction, although she also knows when to back off. They're both stubborn girls, but Little Rock is just better at knowing where to press and where to ease off.
That's not to say she isn't a completely humorless little girl, aged before her time. She can laugh at little things, have fun despite the situation they're in, and be a normal kid. It's just not something she's able to do often.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: n/a
Character Plans:
Appearance/PB: Abigail Breslin (http://abigail-breslin.net/gallery/albums/Zombieland%20DVD%20Screencaps/Zombieland%20Caps%2001/vlcsnap-510690.png)
Writing Samples
First Person Sample
[Video clicks on. There is a very unimpressed looking 12-year-old staring into the NV, sitting at a table with her hands folded in front of her, over the top of her rifle.]
Okay, so. Phones work, internet works, and some creepy guy told me this apartment was mine for a month? And he didn't even answer me when I asked him what the catch was. He just told me that I could use this mobile network to talk to other people like me?
Whatever, I guess. Has anyone seen my sister? She goes by Wichita.
I guess it'd be okay if Columbus and Tallahassee were around, too.
Third Person Sample
In Zombieland there was a lot to be afraid of. Running for your life from horrible creatures that wanted nothing more than to eat you made things in general pretty scary. Still, Little Rock was pretty sure on a scale of 1 to 10 this was an 11 on the scary scale. She'd just expected to have fun at Pacific Playland, not fight for her life. In a world full of zombies, they probably should've known better. Now she and her sister both were trapped, strapped into the Tower of Terror and staring down at a circle of zombies clamoring for their living flesh.
Little Rock stared down at the circle, having just shot the control box to stop the ride where they were moments before, letting out a slow breath.
"How long?" she asked, her voice shaking a little. She could see Wichita move in the corner of her vision, looking over at her.
"Before we climb down?"
"Before they climb up." Little Rock's sister fell silent, and she finally tore her eyes away from the hoard, carefully adjusting her grip on her rifle and freeing a hand, before reaching out for Wichita's, and squeezing it tight.
"Don't worry. You'll think of something. You always think of something." Despite the weak smile on her face, Little Rock wasn't totally sure if this time that would be the case.
